Experience the thrill and freedom of silent flight

We offer three types of trial lesson for individuals or groups. All are in our two seat, dual control training gliders with a qualified instructor. Your lesson starts with a pre flight briefing covering the controls, instruments and how the glider flies. During the flight you will have the opportunity to take the controls yourself.


Individual Trial lesson

An individual trial lesson consists of an aerotow to 2500 ft which gives a flight of about 20 minutes or possibly longer if there is some lift about! As well as the fun of trying gliding you can see the beautiful Usk valley from a whole new perspective. Due to the variable nature of gliding it isn't possible to book a specific time to fly, just turn up at the launch point and ask to be put on the flying list. The best times to arrive at the field are between 9 - 10:30 am or after 4 PM. Go to the launch point and ask to be put on the flying list.

Mile High Trial lesson

If you want an extended experience then why not go for our “Mile High Club” trial lesson. Take an aerotow to 1 MILE above sea level - sometimes above the clouds!

Mile High trial lessons cost £135 including VAT.

Group Trial Lesson

The second type of trial lesson is two winch launches. You are launched using our powerful winch that takes you to between 700 -1400 feet, depending on the conditions. Again you can try the controls and get a panoramic view of the area. Group lessons cost £32 including VAT per person and have to be booked in advance.

These winch trial lessons are suitable for groups of people from work or a club. Group members may assist with operations if they wish, and at the end of the evenings flying people often end up in the bar or one of the local pubs to make an evening of it. These group evenings run on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May until August, starting at about 5:30pm.

The minimum number of people is 6.
